Our way of doing it!

We at Anurag Toastmasters conduct regular meetings twice a month. In addition, we also organize education sessions, special events, joint meets with other clubs, and many more!

A usual toastmaster meeting can be classified into 3 segments:

  • 1. Prepared speeches segments.

For the first segment of prepared speeches, members present speeches based on the Toastmasters education program.Every speech has a specific purpose and speech objective upon which the evaluator provides constructive feedback to the speakers.

  • 2. Table topics segment.

In the table topics segment, speakers are given a topic and are encouraged to speak on the spot for 1-2 minutes.
They are made to think on their feet which helps in improving their impromptu speaking skills.

  • 3. Evaluation segment.

In the evaluations segment, prepared speakers are evaluated based on their speech objectives.
Each prepared speech is orally evaluated by a fellow member in a helpful constructive manner using given evaluation criteria.

The speaker gets written evaluation too from the evaluator and all other members are invited to give written comments too.

Apart from these, there are 7 other roles in a usual toastmasters meeting:

  • Sergeant-at-arms
The responsibility of this role is to look after the logistics of the meeting and also to bring the meeting into order. The SAA opens the meeting and lays down the ground rules. At end, SAA closes the meeting.

  • Timer
The timer times the whole meeting including prepared speakers, table topic speakers.He/She checks whether the speakers are within the prescribed time limit or not.
